In the brief time we've been running Shine On!, we've already had difficulties with attempts to "spam" the service. These are probably mostly due to automatic routines that scan the Internet for this type of board, and are configured to automatically add users and even post messages.

The code mechanism should prevent a good number of those attempts to abuse this service.
